Combined global gravity field models
Global gravity field models are usually derived from a combination of different data types. In addition to data from satellite gravity missions, such as CHAMP, GRACE, and GOCE, also terrestrial gravity field data (gravity anomalies, deflections of the vertical), air-borne and ship gravimetry, but also altimetric gravity anomalies and precise orbit information of SLR satellites can be incorporated.

Correspondingly, in the frame of the project initiative GOCO (“Combination of GOCE data with complementary gravity field information”) high-accuracy and high-resolution global gravity field models based on satellite and terrestrial gravity data, satellite altimetry, and SLR data are computed.

The GOCO consortium is composed of the following institutions, co-ordinated by the IAPG:

As a first step, the satellite-only model GOCO01S was computed. It is the first consistent combination of GOCE and GRACE data. (-> Model coefficients and description)
